For the sixth time Zaragoza hosted the event “Women Techmakers”.an initiative promoted by Google globally, which aims to provide visibility and promote female employment in the technology sector.. The conference was attended by the vice-president of the Government of Aragon, Mar Vaquerowho stressed that the community “will demand talent in the future” to turn this territory into one of the most important epicenters of the sector.
The facilities of the Aragon Institute of Technology have been the place chosen to celebrate these meetings of networkingwhere they also want to inspire young women to be able to choose their professional path linked to these new jobs. “We need the new generations to have the option of betting on this sector that will be so demanding of professionals in the coming years,” said the vice president of the Government of Aragon.
“The arrival of new projects will require that we continue to offer the necessary profiles, that we train young people in specialties of the future and that we continue to offer them the necessary training. that women are essential as they already are in all areas of life,” she added.
Mar Vaquero emphasized that our community can already be considered as the the most important technological hub in southern EuropeThe arrival of such giants as Amazon Web Services and also Microsoft. But also for the “excellence” of the work of companies that have a track record of “decades of steady growth and global expansion”. To this he said that “those projects that will emerge in the coming years and activities that today may be unknown”.
EXAMPLE OF SUCCESSFUL WOMEN
In the five previous editions, the following have been present more than 1,200 attendeeswho were able to listen to the presentations by 120 leading women in technology. More specifically, 80 talks were given, 14 training workshops were held and more than 360 proposals were received in the Call for Papers.
Rita Iglesias, Carmen Ansio, Vanessa Bueno, Paula Gimeno, Alicia Sanjuán, Belén Vega, Laura Miralles, Ruth Navarro, Raquel Villacampa, Alba Almazán, Rosa Mozota, Paula Gracia, Judith López and Susana Romero were the protagonists of the different presentations, which dealt with the following topics issues such as CSS, Design Thinking, fake-numbers or artificial intelligence.among others.
For the vice-president, appointments like the one on Saturday “make it possible to put an end to stereotypes”. because, over the years, “more and more women are dedicating their activity to this branch of knowledge”. “In this event there are many women who are already standing out professionally, showing areas of activity in which they can continue to work, showing their life experience and how they have managed to carve out a career linked to excellence, and awakening vocations because technology is and will be more necessary than ever,” said Vaquero.
