The disaster caused by the DANA which swept Valencia The work has been going on for six days now. The neighbors of the municipalities affected by the storm continue with the work of cleaning and debris removal. They have been joined by thousands of volunteers who have not hesitated to go where they were needed most.
So, this Monday, Joaquín Prat has moved to Paiportaone of the municipalities most affected by the DANA and, from there, has reported, live, how the neighbors are organizing to restore life to the town.
“I don’t think we have managed to make people understand what is really happening here, six days after the disaster. You have to smell it, you have to live it, and you have to listen to the silence. which is only broken by the sound of the bulldozers and the military,” said Joaquín Prat.
“It is full of young people; all the young people of the province have come to help when no one was coming. 24 hours later, neither firefighters nor the military nor the Guardia Civil had shown up.. Here there is an incessant stream of young people, with their brushes in hand; they are the ones who have been here from the first moment,” the presenter stressed.
Prat also explained that people approached him to thank him for being there and for showing the tragedy live: “Thanks, above all, to all the young people. No ‘ninis’ or anything. They have been the first to show their faces”.
“The streets have become a quagmire. The sidewalks are full of debris, of everything that people have had to remove from their homes. Although the water has receded, the trail of destruction is still evident. Businesses are destroyed. What future is left for these people? Here’s why, they ask the rest of Spain not to forget them. Finally, the presenter gave voice to Palmi, one of the affected residents of Paiporta, who praised the work of the young people and, above all, stressed that “this is not over in ten days”, but that “this is not going to end in ten days”.it is going to take years to rebuild the whole town.“.
