Yolanda Díaz warns that no one should go to work “if there are no safety conditions”.

The second vice-president and minister of Labor and Social Economy, Yolanda Díazsaid this Saturday that those affected by the DANA should not go to their workplaces if safety conditions are not met, and may resort to teleworking.

Through a message on her social networks, Yolanda Diaz stated that “all people who have difficulties to go to work safely, will be able to make use of the telework“. The vice-president explained that “those who are not in conditions to work should not go to work”.

Specifically, he stressed that “they are exempted from coming to work” when the commute could pose a danger to the safety and health of workers or interfere with rescue work and recovery of the areas affected by the DANA.

Also when the employee needs to attend to the search for missing family members or to take charge of the death of the same. Likewise, they will be exempt when, as a consequence of the loss of their homes or belongings, they are unable to go to work.

The teleworking will not be contemplated for those people who cannot do it by lack of devices or coverage for it.

In these cases, Diaz stressed, “all workers will be able to be absent and take paid leave”. “The Ministry of Labor will make sure that no worker suffers reprisals or be harmed,” he added.
