Xia Li Turns Heel On WWE SmackDown This Week

Xia Li brought a lot of eyes to WWE for being the first Chinese talent to join the sports and entertainment giant. Xia signed with WWE in January 2017 and made her WWE debut at the inaugural Mae Young Classic the same year.

Xia was drafted to the SmackDown brand as part of the 2021 Draft. She made her main roster debut on the December 10th episode of SmackDown as a face. Her in-ring debut took place in February 2022.

WWE turned heel Xia Li during tonight’s episode of SmackDown. Xia cut a promo backstage wherein she ditched her role as the protector, saying would protect herself going forward.

“I see no one worthy of my protection. Now, I protect myself.”

The company recently repackaged Pete Dunne to play a heel character on SmackDown. Dunne, who now goes by the name of Butch, is part of the Fight Night heel stable alongside Sheamus and Ridge Holland.
