WWE just fired 10 people from the NXT brand. That naturally made several fans nervous that the main roster is set for some cuts as well. This concern is far-reaching and it landed backstage in the company.
Release lists are curated by Nick Khan, Vince McMahon, and Bruce Prichard. Other higher-ups may have input, but this is a very secretive discussion until orders are given. It is unknown how far long they are in finalizing any release list. That being said, Vince McMahon is always the final decision maker. No “future endeavor” calls have gone down yet and the list of Superstars on the chopping block is a mystery at this time.
Ringside News was told by a tenured member of the creative team that, “releases are being kept very quiet and private until they happen.” In essence, the creative team has no idea who might not be around on a week-by-week basis at this point, but they are still tasked to write a show with the utmost continuity.
On that note, we exclusively reported in the past that WWE has hired and fired the person in charge of keeping continuity in check on several occasions. The writing team is just as in the dark about firings as the talent roster.
Ringside News was also able to independently confirm that the NXT writing team knew about those cuts a week ahead of time. They planned to release that list of 10 stars a week prior, but the decision was made to hold off. The main roster writing team currently has no idea who might be on their way out at this time.
WWE’s talent just returned from a European tour. We will have to see how things turn out in the weeks to come, but another round of releases isn’t out of the question. The company skipped their annual April 15th firing spree, but we’re not out of the woods yet.
