Everything is ready for Madrid to host this Saturday the 17 young talents from all over Europe in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024, which this year in Spain commemorates the 20th anniversary of the first “mini” microphone glass microphone achieved by Maria Isabel and her Antes Muerta Que Sencilla.
For the big TV show, RTVE has chosen hosts who are closely related to the contest: Ruth Lorenzo, Marc Clotet and Melani García will be the lucky ones who will assume the great responsibility of guiding the millions of viewers of the song festival.
From contestant to Junior Eurovision presenter
Melani García Gaspar was born on June 10, 2007 in La Eliana (Valencia) and since she was a child she started singing in the choir Unió Musical De l’Eliana, where she discovered opera and became interested in classical pieces such as Due Pupille Amabili by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Also, since she was very young, she has declared herself an admirer of Maria Callas.
At the age of 17, sings, plays the violin and piano and has an excellent command of English.something she was able to demonstrate in 2020 as a spokesperson for the Spanish jury at Junior Eurovision. But Melani’s talent goes even further: she has practiced ballet and loves rhythmic gymnastics -she is a great admirer of Almudena Cid-.
It was not until 2018 when she made the leap to television with her participation in the. talent show “La Voz Kids” as part of the team of Melendi. That same year she said: “My dream would be to represent Spain in Junior Eurovision and participate in a theatrical opera”. It was said and done, because a year later, in 2019, RTVE announced its return to the competition after 12 editions of absence with Melani García as representative.
In her performance at Junior Eurovision 2019, Melani García was accompanied by four chorus singers: Edurne Rodríguez, Yara Diez, Violeta Leal and María Mihali, obtaining 212 points and achieving an extraordinary 3rd place.
After her participation in Junior Eurovision, Melani recorded several singles with Universal Music, where she kept her lyrical essence with pop touches. In fact, the presentation single was a version of “Vivo Por Ella” by Andrea Boccelli and Marta Sánchez. In 2022, she was nominated for Best Spanish Artist at the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards.
Melani is currently immersed in her first foray into film in the movie “Los Muértimer” by Álex de la Iglesia.
