“Only the people save the people” is the motto of a tragedy that has already left more than 215 dead, the vast majority (211) in the Valencian Community, but also in Castilla-La Mancha and Andalusia, in addition to hundreds of missing people, after the passage of a DANA.
With the conviction that only by joining forces can we move forward, thousands of citizens have united for days to help those affected by the disaster in an improvised tide mobilized -mostly through social networks- to the most damaged areas, to provide water and food and to help in the clean-up tasks. They have done so, however, full of anger and disappointment with the politicians in charge of managing the crisis, to whom now They are now calling for accountability in a demonstration called for November 9.

Behind the call is a score of social and civic organizations and unions that “want to to show their condolences and solidarity with the families and friends of the dead victims. and for the people affected. They place their infrastructures and resources at the service of society and are grateful for the great work done by the emergency and rescue teams,” according to the beginning of the communiqué announcing the mobilization.
In it, they accuse the Valencian government of having demonstrated “a serious lack of capacity and efficiency to manage any type of crisis”. And they exemplify it in the warning to the citizens “with more than 12 hours of delay, which in part caused a greater misfortune in the face of this meteorological catastrophe”.
They also highlight “the responsibility of the Regional Minister of Education, who kept schools open in the affected areas when in some places the power was already out, endangering the safety of children and teachers” and criticize “the response of those companies that required their workers to continue with their work activities despite the safety risks,” according to the communiqué.
Under the slogan “Mazón, resign”, will leave from the Town Hall Square in Valencia on November 9 at 18:00 hours. and will walk through the streets until reaching the Palau de la Generalitat, to demand the purification of responsibilities for the poor management of the last DANA, which has seriously affected several regions of the Valencian Community.
