Natural tragedies affect everyone equally, and journalists who are covering the effects of the DANA in the Valencian Community are not spared either. This is the case of a reporter from Telecincowhich this Friday told live the devastation of the house where he grew up.
Arantxa de Fez intervened from Utiel in the following programs. La Mirada Crítica y Let’s see. In the first one he said, “It’s very hard to listen to my mother like this and see how the house I’ve lived in for more than 20 years is. All this mountain of furniture is actually my house, what little is left of it. This fridge is the one that was inside my house, the sofa, the tables, the chairs…. 25 years of life are concentrated here”.
“During the whole day yesterday many neighbors were coming to help, also my friends and many people of the town that you know, that you greet from time to time but you have not crossed a word with them. The truth is that the generosity of all the neighbors of Utiel and of many nearby municipalities has been enormous in trying to helpbecause they have been working for hours,” she added.
In the afternoon, Joaquín Prat intervened in his program: “Our job is to inform you, but sometimes it is not easy, especially if your family has also been affected by this tragedy. In Utiel, a colleague of La Mirada Crítica, Arantxa de Fez, good morning.”
“It’s never easy to do it in this situation, but much less so if it touches you very closely, if you have a house full of mud and you see how many people you know are coming to try to lend a hand. I want to show you how Utiel is right now,” said Arantxa de Fez.
“It is not easy at all this exercise in professionalism that Arantxa de Fez is doing, who has to report what has happened to her people and the consequences she has suffered in her own home,” said Joaquín Prat, moved by the journalist’s testimony.
