The former airport director Adolfo Suarez-Madrid Barajas José Antonio Álvarez Fernández has assured this Monday from the Senate that was unaware of the arrival of the vice president of Venezuela Delcy Rodríguez to this terminal in January 2020, while saying that he had no knowledge of the possible movements of the former minister. José Luis Ábaloshis advisor Koldo Garcia and the alleged plot’s procurer Victor de Aldama because it was not within his competence.
In response to several questions from the senator from Vox Ángel Pelayo Gordillo during the commission of inquiry into all the ramifications of the Koldo case, the former director of Madrid-Barajas Airport during the arrival of the Venezuelan vice-president has insisted that his office has no competence in some aspects related to this Delcy case.
As he said, Aena as airport manager does not have information on the identity of persons arriving at the airport and, therefore, had no knowledge of the arrival of Delcy Rodriguez in January 2020, while denying any instruction on this matter.
For this reason, she has repeated on several occasions that the competence for border control and customs control belongs to the Ministry of the Interiorwhile he insisted that he was also unaware of the alleged movements of Koldo García, José Luis Ábalos and Víctor de Aldama through restricted areas of the airport.
In any case, the former director of the airport has defended that the only “extraordinary” action related to the Delcy case has been the preservation and custody of the images and subsequent delivery to the court.
