After briefly appearing in the recently released The Batman, a deleted scene from the film showcasing a conversation between Batman and his infamous nemesis the Joker has been released.

The new clip made its way online through the online alternate reality game for the film. On the Rata Alada website, players were tasked with solving a variety of riddles, all of which had to do with the Joker (the answers, if you’re curious, were: Punchline, Ha, and Joker). Entering all three correctly rewards users with the video, showing Robert Pattinson’s Batman visiting Barry Keoghan’s Joker in Arkham Asylum to ask him about the Riddler.

While this may come as a surprise to fans, the plan was always to have Joker feature somewhat prominently in the film before director Matt Reeves trimmed his role down to a brief cameo. In an interview with Variety last month, Reeves mentioned that the cut scene would include Batman visiting Joker to discuss the Riddler case, with Joker instead focusing on the “anniversary” that he has with Batman and their relationship.

Unlike past iterations of the famous character, Keoghan’s looks much more deformed, and has similarities to The New 52-era of Batman comics, which saw the Joker cut his own face off and become a bit more sadistic than he has in the past.
