Supergirl Movie Unlikely to Move Forward at Warner Bros. Discovery

Following the surprise cancellation of Batgirl at Warner Bros. Discovery, it seems as if more DC projects are in danger of being put on the chopping block.

According to a recent report from Rolling Stone, the currently planned Supergirl film is also unlikely to move forward at the company. The film is currently in development and was set to star Sasha Calle, who is also set to appear as Supergirl in the upcoming movie The Flash. Her cameo was meant to act as a quick introduction before her proper arrival in a film.

The move follows various ones made during the ongoing shakeup within the company and various restructuring acts that new CEO David Zaslav is making for Warner Bros. Discovery. Outside of the world of DC, various other films (including the Scooby Doo film Scoob! Holiday Haunt) have been shelved, gotten rid of completely, or simply delayed so the company can figure out what to do with them.

As for the greater DC Extended Universe, it seems as if the major films set to release in the coming years are all still on track to do so, at least for now. This includes The Flash, which Rolling Stone reports remains still on track for a 2023 release date despite the various troubles that star Ezra Miller finds themselves in over the past couple of months. With only five films — Black AdamShazam! Fury of the GodsAquaman and the Lost KingdomThe Flash, and Blue Beetle — having concrete release dates as of now, it’s anyone’s guess as to what the future holds for the world of DC Films.
