Singing, taranto and soleá germinate again in Zaragoza through the IV Flamenco Dance Series

Zaragoza returns to performance cult to flamenco through the fourth edition of the City of Zaragoza Flamenco Dance Cycle. After a flamenco tablao to be held on Friday, November 15 as a preamble, at 10.30 p.m. at the Casa de la Marimorena, the cycle will officially begin on Saturday, November 16 until Sunday, December 1, in its traditional setting of the Civic Center Estación del Norte.

After enjoying a third edition that had more than 1,300 attendees, this new Flamenco Dance Cycle intends to validate once again its position as “backbone of Culture and Art, before a branch of dance that is taking more and more shape and interest in Zaragoza”, as the event’s committee makes clear.

Therefore, after having enjoyed a flashmob performed in Alfonso Street, as well as a vermouth in the Casa de la Marimorena on Sunday 10, on Friday 15 will be the turn of the tablao flamenco to, once finished, give way to a program that combines art, youth and experience.

PROGRAMMING OF THE CYCLE

The first one to open the closing ceremony at the Estación del Norte Civic Center will be El Chapiwho will present his new show, “Vivencias”, a cocktail of Zaragozan flamenco that combines dance, singing and heels, accompanied by other artists such as José Díaz, Titi Bautista and José María Giménez.

La Casa de la Marimorena will once again hold a new flamenco tablao on Friday 22 at 10.30 p.m., and will be followed by the show by La Truco on Saturday, November 23, at 7:00 pm. La Truco is a dancer and teacher admired and respected by the whole community, and is considered one of the best bailaoras por taranto and soleá, having accumulated awards such as the Signo Award for her artistic career (2005) or the National Dance Award for Alegrías (2009).

The committee of the cycle hopes that this event will once again become “a backbone agent of Culture and Art”.

On Sunday 24 will be the turn of one of the masterclasses of an hour and a half, taught by La Truco and will feature two sessions. The first session will be at 10.30 a.m., focused more on beginners, and the second at 12.30 p.m., focused on intermediate or advanced students.

PATRICIA DONN’S GOLDEN BROOCH

After a final flamenco tablao at the Casa de la MarimorenaOn Friday, November 29, also at 10.30 p.m., the finishing touch to this cycle will be provided by the young dancer Patricia Donn on November 30 and December 1.

At the age of 21, she made her debut as a soloist with the Amador Rojas Company at the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium in Las Palmas de Gran Canarias. In 2023, she decided to break frontiers to create her own flamenco ballet theater and dance with the show “Ángeles y demonios”, in which Antonio Canales collaborated as a guest artist. Under the guidance of Lucho Ferruzo, manager of prominent figures such as Sara Baras, Patricia Donn is ready to make Zaragoza vibrate on Saturday 30, at 7 p.m., accompanied by the singing of El Confu, the guitar playing of Israel Cerreduela and the percussion of Antonio Losada.

Likewise, the dancer from Granollers will be in charge of giving the last masterclass on December 1, which will also have two sessions at 10.30 am and 12.30 pm for beginners and intermediate or advanced practitioners respectively.

In order to access the events attached to the cycle, it is necessary to purchase a ticket in advance through Entradium’s web platform. Tickets can be purchased at a price of 15 euros, and the space has a limited capacity of 180 people.
