Sasha Banks and Naomi were reportedly upset with ‘something that transpired’ hours before WWE Raw

There may be more to the Sasha Banks/Naomi walkout story and more details could be out very soon.

WrestleVotes is reporting that there was tension all day leading up to the show and both Banks and Naomi were upset at something.

WrestleVotes tweeted, “Source notes the WWE statement regarding the Sasha / Naomi walkout is just the baseline of the details. The tension leading up to the walkout was palpable all day, with both superstars upset at something that transpired. More details will come out in due time on this.”

As WrestlingNews.co noted earlier, Banks unfollowed several WWE accounts including Vince McMahon, Roman Reigns, and several others and at this moment, she is only following 6 accounts. The only two active WWE stars she follows are Naomi and Tamina Snuka.

Fans on Twitter first noticed her unfollows over the weekend so it would seem that there were issues before today. As noted earlier, Banks and Naomi were scheduled to be in a 6-Pac Challenge match to determine the number 1 contender for the Raw Women’s Championship. Naomi was scheduled to win the match but Banks was said to be unhappy with the creative laid out and she along with Naomi left the building.

Later in the show, Corey Graves (likely Vince McMahon on headset), said that Banks and Naomi acted unprofessionally when they walked out. It’s no secret that Vince McMahon does not like when wrestlers walk out when they are advertised. In 2002, Steve Austin walked out because he wasn’t happy with creative. The following week, The Rock cut a promo on Austin saying that he took his ball and went home. Austin was gone for several months until Jim Ross was able to convince both sides to work things out.

Here is WWE’s statement on the situation:

“When Sasha Banks and Naomi arrived at the arena this afternoon, they were informed of their participation in the main event of tonight’s Monday Night Raw. During the broadcast, they walked into WWE Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis’ office with their suitcases in hand, placed their tag team championship belts on his desk and walked out.

They claimed they weren’t respected enough as tag team champions. And even though they had eight hours to rehearse and construct their match, they claimed they were uncomfortable in the ring with two of their opponents – even though they’d had matches with those individuals in the past with no consequence.

Monday Night Raw is a scripted live TV show, whose characters are expected to perform the requirements of their contract. We regret we were unable to deliver, as advertised, tonight’s main event.”
