Ric Flair is coming out of retirement, plans to wrestle again

Ric Flair is returning to the ring…yes, you read that correctly.

Dave Meltzer is reporting that the 73-year-old Flair is training to wrestle for the first time since 2011. Flair has been posting videos in training sessions with Jay Lethal and the videos have led to some to believe that he plans on wrestling again.

Meltzer confirmed the news. “Ric Flair is training to wrestle again,” Meltzer says. “The stories about his return are accurate.”

Flair “retired” in 2008 at WrestleMania 24 but returned to the ring a year later for TNA. His last match was on an episode of Impact Wrestling against Sting.

Flair parted ways with WWE in 2021 but has remained active with various appearances in and out of wrestling. He appeared at the NWA 73rd anniversary show and at AAA’s Triplemania XXIX. There had been talk of Flair signing with AEW as Andrade El Idolo’s manager but those talks cooled off when a Dark Side of the Ring episode aired on the infamous 2002 Plane Ride from Hell incident. A flight attendant appeared on the show to accuse Flair of sexual assault. Flair has denied the allegations.
