El Hormiguero received this Wednesday the visit of Rauw Alejandrowho presented his fifth studio work, Cosa Nuestra, which goes on sale on November 15.
In the album, composed of 18 songs, the singer, dancer and music producer includes genres such as salsa, jazz, hip hop and African music..
“This is the first time I’ve had a vinyl record in my career and it’s very special.. The title of Our Thing is a phrase that has been on my mind ever since I heard it. This album is made with a lot of love and affection, and has a lot of Puerto Rico, my land, my people, my culture, a lot of Cosa Nuestra“explained the guest.
Pablo Motos pointed out that the artist’s father had participated in the album as guitarist: “Yes, my father has an incredible talent for music and in the recording studio with him everything flows,” he said.
“My father never studied music, he learned everything by ear. It’s the first time we’ve played together and I had a great time recording. I come from a family with many musicians, my mother is a backing vocalist, my grandfather was also a musician….“, he added.
“What did you do before you made it in music?” the presenter asked him. “I was a waiter, I worked in a warehouse, as a gardener, in clothing stores, in shoe shops…. with that I paid for my college, my house and I was investing in my dream, which is music”, he answered.
“I started very slowly building my career.. Nothing has been given to me, I had to work very hard,” said the Puerto Rican singer.
Then, the Valencian asked his guest what he missed about his life when he was not famous: “I come from a very humble and quiet little town.”said Rauw Alejandro.
“I started being famous in music already at the age of 25, so I was able to live a life of anonymity for quite some time. I’m very grateful for everything I have, but there are always days when I wish no one knew me, but I think fame is part of my job, it comes in the package. I have doppelgangers who sometimes impersonate me,” he concluded.
