MANILA, Philippines—First leg winner Indonesia swept the Philippines, 25-20, 25-22, 25-20, in the Southeast Asia (SEA) V-League at Sta. Rosa Multi-Purpose Complex in Laguna on Saturday night.
The Nationals have now lost two straight games in the second leg of the regional meet with a 0-5 overall record after a winless campaign in the first leg in Jakarta.
Indonesia (2-0), meanwhile, needs just one more win to seal its second consecutive championship.
After a stellar 24-point outing in the Philippines’ loss to Thailand a day before, Marck Espejo only had 10. Steven Rotter, meanwhile, topscored for the Nationals’ defeat with 13.
Farhan Halim led Indonesia in the scoring department with 19. Doni Haryono and Dimas Saputra, meanwhile, also contributed 12 and 11 markers, respectively for the win.
Earlier, Vietnam squeaked past Thailand, 25-20, 25-19, 28-30, 21-25, 15-9.
Thuan Nguyen Ngoc and Tien Duong Van combined for 34 markers with 17 points each for the Vietnamese.
The Nationals end their SEA V-League campaign on Sunday, 6 pm, against Vietnam. A dominant win would bolster their podium finish hopes. Indonesia, meanwhile, looks to sweep the competition when they square up against Thailand in the first game.
