There might be more WWE releases coming soon. Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that he’s heard that WWE is not done yet with budget cuts.
Meltzer said, “There were 10 [NXT releases] and there’s people in the company who think that’s not it. I’ve heard rumblings about more…”
Meltzer pointed out how WWE typically likes to make cuts around the time of the investor conference call. He added, “There’s definitely people on the main roster that you could see could be [cut]. I guess the idea is to do it before the investors call, I don’t know. That seems like the idea.”
On Friday, WWE released the following names:
– Dakota Kai
– Malcolm Bivens
– Dexter Lumis
– Persia Pirotta
– Sanjana George
– Draco Anthony
– Mila Malani
– Raelyn Divine
– Blair Baldwin (referee)
WWE told everyone that they were let go due to budget cuts and the door was open for a possible return down the road. In most cases, they let people go because Vince McMahon did not see a fit for them on the main roster. In Malcolm Bivens case, he was open about not wanting to re-sign. In other cases, certain wrestlers were not progressing enough with their in-ring/character work.
On the main roster, there are several people who are barely used on TV and are not being featured in a main storyline so it’s anyone’s guess as to who might be let go.
