Delacueva (Zaragoza1994) continues with the thesis of his next LP after announcing the release of what is the second single from the album: “Drifting Love“. The “hit” will be released in audio format this upcoming Wednesday, November 20th on digital platforms, while the Sunday 24at 12:00 noon, the videoclip of the song will be releasedmade by the production company Vanilla Bloom.
Through a line that delves into the energy of guitar pop, but also transits along with the melancholy and, as the singer defines, “cheesy lyrics“Delacueva reflects on the meaning and magic of love. According to the artist Aragonesedrifting love is about “at least from the context of the relationship I mention in my topic, a love that comes and goes, an intermittent and vertiginous sensation that has no fixed direction. You lose your reasoning and control and get caught in a loop that enlarges your doubts about the relationship. It is just like a boat when it drifts and loses control of the rudder, that moves at the mercy of wind and tide and ends up shipwrecked.“.
Through a story that speaks about joy and fantasy, but also about tragedy and nostalgia, Delacueva explains that his main goal is “to reflect on that struggle to maintain control in a relationship which, unfortunately, you lose and it ends up driving you into a whirlwind of hysteria and out of control.“.
ARCTIC MONKEYS AND JULIO CORTÁZAR’S INFLUENCE.
Of course, the Zaragozan continues in his line of leaving references to important facts and figures in his life. If in “When I needed you most“, Delacueva played a tribute to the animated series “Digimon“, in “Drifting love“this role falls to the British group Arctic Monkeys and the Argentine writer Julio Cortázar.
The artist states that, in the case of Arctic Monkeys, it has meant a before and after being “one of the three bands that have influenced me the most. In this track I leave references to both their fourth and sixth albums.. Alex Turner is the lyricist who has influenced me the most, because of his way of chewing the words, make games with them and also their way of making melodies.. And I think I have been able to incorporate this style to my songs in Spanish”.
On the other hand, with Cortázar, Delacueva exposes a more introspective evolution: “When I was younger, I used to write in English, until I decided to switch to Spanish. One of the keys that allowed me to immerse myself more in the language was to read his works, which are already classics in our language for their way of expressing reality and their surreal way of telling things.” “In fact, one of Cortázar’s phrases in his short story “Hand station” is in the lyrics of the songand explains that love and magic end when the sanction of reality takes over our daily lives,” he continues.
Through these vital reflections, Delacueva lays a new stone in the path of this next LP. But not without announcing to his followers that to look forward to the release of his third single soon., to be released in 2025. “It will be a slow ballad that everyone will like. It is beautiful, and we have made it with a lot of love and enthusiasm, but I want everyone to draw their own conclusions from it,” he concludes.
