Paiporta, one of the municipalities most affected by the DANA which has swept ValenciaValencia, has become a real car junkyard where citizens try to carry out the cleanup work to return to normal life, something that, according to forecasts, will take years to achieve.
This Tuesday, from Paiporta, Joaquín Prat has shown the case of Josefa and Clemente, two elderly people who have been a week without being able to leave their homeThe flood blocked the first floor, which is still muddy.
From the balcony, Josefa explained that “the electricity has not returned and the water arrived the day before yesterday”.. In all the time they have been locked up, their only entertainment has been watching the streams of volunteers trying to clear the street.
“We don’t lack food because we bring down a bucket to carry it for us. We can go down to the stairs, but we have all the doors locked and a car embedded on the first floor.“, the couple pointed out.
“This is going from brown to dark, at least let them give us the light. We have done very badly with the king, but we are desperate, something must be done,” added Josefa, who also explained that they need heavy machinery to clear the entrance to their house and the first floor.
“It is very strong, no matter how much they see on TV, they will not understand. Eight days ago, at 8:30 p.m., we were so calm and, all of a sudden, one second, my husband went down to the pharmacy and we could no longer close the door. This is devastating. It seems unbelievable that in this century this has happened. In ’57, when I was going around and we had nothing, this didn’t happen.. It was a flea compared to this,” the couple concluded from the balcony of their home.
