Nacho Dean, known for being ehe first man to cross the world on foot and swim across five continentsvisited this Tuesday the set of Zapeando to narrate the ups and downs of his journey. Dean, who dedicated three years to this feat on foot, has revealed that during his expedition he carried three changes of clothes and that he used a blue cart to transport his belongings.
Dean stressed the value of solitude in his journey.I get along well with myself. Either you acclimatize or you acclimatize yourself,” he commented humorously. “I’ve spent weeks and months crossing deserts without seeing or talking to anyone, but it’s very good to put all the pieces in order, to think of new projects….. I’ve spent weeks and months crossing deserts without seeing or talking to anyone, but it’s good to put all the pieces in order, to think about new projects,” he said, describing the adventure as an exercise in self-discovery.
Despite the apparent scarcity of his resources, the expedition did not come cheap. Dean has estimated the total cost at about 60,000 euros.Although he began his journey with only 3,000 euros in his pocket, as the initial budget was increased thanks to donations and crowdfunding campaigns, which allowed him to reach the amount needed to complete his journey.
In addition, Dean has rescued one of the most tense episodes he experienced during his expedition: his passage through the border between Armenia and Iran, a high-security area where taking pictures is strictly forbidden. As he recounted, his habit of taking a selfie at every border almost cost him dearly: “I was surprised by several soldiers and I gave them my camera, pretending to be absent-minded (…) After a very long and tense hour, they let me go”.
The tour also brought him face to face with nature in its purest and wildest state. In the jungle of Nepal, he was surprised by a wild rhinocerosHe was alerted by the cries of the local inhabitants. Although he was initially curious, the imposing figure of the animal made him understand the danger of the moment: “These are very intense moments. You know that the rhino is very fast and territorial, but it is also herbivorous,” he said, affirming that the situation was “under control”.
Among the most fascinating landscapes he discovered, Dean has pointed out the jungles of Ecuador and the starry nights over the Atacama Desert.environments that allowed him to connect with nature at its best.
At the end of his speech, the adventurer has revealed his future plans, which include a new expedition for 2025.We are preparing a new expedition sailing off the coast of Portugal”.
