I’m not nervous, I’m really looking forward to giving it my all at Junior Eurovision.

This Saturday will be held in Madrid Junior Eurovision (at 6 p.m. on La 1), a gala in which 17 young artists from all over Europe will take to the stage of the Caja Mágica. to represent their countries.

Spain will be represented by 9-year-old Chloe DelaRosa from Extremadura and her dancers, Ilinca, Laia, María and Amy with the song Como la Lola, a tribute to Lola Flores and the desire to be a singer. We talked to this little ‘cantista’, singer and artist a few days before going on stage. From today, from 9 p.m. onwards, you can vote for Spain free of charge at JESC.TV.

You’ve already had your first rehearsals, how did it go?Yes, today we did the second one. We started early, to be honest, and very well. At the beginning I was a little tired but then I got up and gave everything.

And does the Eurovision stage impose a lot on you? It’s very big, it’s very cool. I’ve always wanted to go on a stage like that, I was really looking forward to it. There are a lot of flowers, I love it. I’m sad to leave the stage because it’s so beautiful that when you enter and see everything you don’t want to leave.

What has caught your attention? There are little cardboard dolls because people are not yet in the enclosure. And there they are, they are super funny because there are some with their little cardboard hands raised. There’s everything, it’s really cool.

Do you have any tricks to overcome the nerves or don’t you have them directly?I don’t have any nerves, really. I really want to give it my all in the magic box. My dancers are a little nervous, but I tell them that they don’t have to be nervous because we’re going to do great and I’m sure people are going to like it a lot.

What do you like the most about this profession, about being a singer and an artist? Well, what I like the most is singing and enjoying it, because I like it a lot. I have a great time. And then on stage we give it our all, I have a great time.

And how are you managing this week with school? This week I can’t go to school because we are in the Eurovision week and because I don’t have school here, I have it in my town, Guareña. The truth is that they haven’t sent me any homework because I have to concentrate on Eurovision.

They have been really devoted to you… My teacher is super nice to me, she helps me a lot. I can’t wait to go back to school to see my classmates because they said goodbye to me very well, very cool. They made me a farewell party with a lot of gifts, a banner, drawings… I loved it.

Let’s suppose you win, what is the first thing you are going to do next?Let’s see, man, a party of course, of course. And well, maybe go celebrate somewhere with my family and friends. I would also like to thank RTVE for giving me this opportunity and to thank my family and all of you. [la prensa] for all your support.

What would winning Eurovision mean to you?Oh, it would make me very excited to get on stage singing the song again, with all the children, tears in my eyes…. That’s exciting. I’m a big fan of watching Eurovision with my family. We watch it every year Eurovision Junior and the Benidorm Fest and we always watch it and we have a mini party with potatoes and everything and we have a great time.

How did you meet Lola Flores?Well, I met her thanks to her daughter, because we listen to a lot of music from all kinds of artists, and one time we were listening to Rosario Flores and a video of Lola Flores appeared. I love Lola Flores because she was the first Spanish artist to rap. She also sings copla, flamenco… and she has a lot of power. When she gets on stage she has a lot of art.

And now that you are paying tribute to her, have you received any message from Lola Flores’ daughters?I really want to see her, because I have been to many of Rosario’s concerts, because I really like her music and we listen to her all day long at home.

Have you thought about what will happen after Junior Eurovision? Do you want to continue working in music? Record an album?Well, of course, I have it very clear and when I grow up I want to be a singer and an artist and I’m going to give it my all.

This year is the 20th anniversary of María Isabel’s participation, have you seen her performance? This year marks 20 years since Maria Isabel participated, have you seen her performance?
Yes, the truth is that I really like Antes muerta que sencilla. On the bus today we have been playing it and we have been dancing to it and we always play it at parties and we have given it our all. I saw her performance and it was amazing. She did super well.

How are you doing with your colleagues from other delegations? Did you get along with the language? Do you speak a lot?Yes, we all have a group on WhatsApp. We speak English, of course. I communicate many times with them, but more than in WhatsApp I communicate in person, because in WhatsApp the problem is that they write a lot of things and I don’t have time to see all the messages. Today, for example, I haven’t picked up my cell phone all day.

You have had the opportunity to see them this week, haven’t you?Yeah man, I’ve met them all, I’ve been pillow fighting with them, because we had a sleepover yesterday. party that the Italians had organized. There were pillows and we were all fighting with the pillows and what had formed there was not normal.

Who won the pillow fight?Everybody… but I threw the kids on the floor, because I was going with four pillows and I was making them like this and like this [gesticula moviendo los brazos] and I knocked them out (laughs).

You were also with Soleá (participated in Junior Eurovision in 2020), with Levi Díaz (2021) and with Carlos Higes (2022)…I loved meeting her and meeting them. I had a great time and Soleá, who I had not met, made me very excited.

And did they give you any advice?Well, Soleá gave me a very nice piece of advice and the children, whom I met in Vitoria [en el FesTVal]also. I have a WhatsApp group with my dancers and Carlos where we talk every day.

The other day we saw you at La Revuelta, you did super well….I loved it. We watch a lot of La Revuelta at home. And I took Broncano’s dog and a La Revuelta t-shirt and a bouquet of flowers… they gave me a dressing room with lots of delicious food, I had a great time.

What do you like about The Revolt?I met the magic man and I was very excited, because I pay more attention to the magic man than to my parents. I met Broncano in the Fitz Room [durante la presentación de contenidos de RTVE] and he told me “Come to La Revuelta”. And one day we were recording a program and they told us to go there. One day before that happened we went to see the door of La Revuelta because I wanted to leave him a little gift and a little sign but I couldn’t because I didn’t have anything on me. We went by there in the car and seeing the door made me very happy. I have always wanted to go to La Revuelta and I loved the experience.

How do you deal with the fame, Chloe? do they stop you, ask you for pictures? what do they say to you?Well, there are a lot of people who know me and I love that, because I meet a lot of new people and they are super nice to me. Many times they give me a lot of things and I love it.

Would you like to meet Rosalía, who is also mentioned in the song?Man, of course. And I would love to meet Taylor and Karol? Man, they are a reference and I love them.
