Human errors can be forgiven, indolence can never be forgiven.

Twenty days after the tragic floods and with a weekend in between since the appearance of the president of the Generalitat to account for the management of the DANA, the leader of the PP supports his popular baron. Alberto Núñez Feijóo has asked both Carlos Mazón and his team to continue along the same path as up to now, with the objective of “to win back the trust” of the Valencian people. Thus, he has focused criticism on the central government. Before the National Board of Directors, the popular has highlighted the difference between the attitude that both Pedro Sánchez and Teresa Ribera have taken after the tragedy with respect to that of Mazón: “Human errors can be forgiven, but manifest indolence is never exculpated”.

Feijóo has placed the two competent administrations at the same level of responsibility to, later, mark the difference between the two. “If the central government and the Generalitat Valenciana aspire to be at the height of the people, honoring the victims, both are obliged to evaluate from the criticism and self-criticism of the tragedy and, secondly, to compensate for what happened with a reconstruction process that allows people to live normally and to be sure that this cannot happen again. We cannot allow something like this to happen again with the same consequences”.

However, he has only urged the Generalitat to “continue to show its face” to the citizens, to “recognize mistakes and assume responsibilities and make reconstruction an obligation in which there is no room for mistakes”. “This is the path you have followed so far and the one you must continue: trust, especially when it has been damaged, must be won again”. On the contrary, the raised the tone against the central government which he accuses of disappearing after the tragedy. “It must show its face and not hide, as the president and the responsible ministers have done: they must help the people, not force the people to ask for help; they must give explanations, not flee abroad; they must recognize mistakes, not blame their own on others; they must assume responsibilities, not evade them and make reconstruction an obligation without begrudging aid”.

In this way, Feijóo has demanded Sánchez to assume his responsibilities, to extend the aids for the DANA and to constitute a group of independent experts to evaluate the hydraulic works and to raise the conclusions in six months.
