How could they not be pissed off?

Queen Letizia was sympathetic this Sunday with the citizens who received the royal retinue, as well as the presidents of the Government and the Generalitat Valenciana, Pedro Sánchez and Carlos Mazón, with boos, shouts, stones and mud throwing. “How can they not feel that way. How can they not be pissed off?”The sovereign lamented in words reported in the newspaper Abc.

The scenes occurred in the town of Paiporta, one of the most affected by the DANA. When the retinue was moving along one of the main streets of the town, some neighbors began to throw mud, which reached the king, the queen and Mazón, who were protected by umbrellas. President Sánchez was urgently evacuated by the security services after a stick was thrown at him and his official car received blows on the windows.

The crowd was such that it caused Queen Letizia and King Felipe VI to be separated into different groups. The monarch, with a face full of compunction and even between some sobs, embraced some of those affected by the storm.while she listened to shouts from some of the neighbors. “We have nothing!”, said one citizen, while another shouted “You don’t lack water and the people here are dying!”.

In the meantime, both the king and Mazón -with mud stains on his face and clothes- also received cries of “help”, “Mazón resign” or “Pedro Sánchez resign”. Security personnel tried to protect Felipe VI with umbrellas at all times, and after an hour in which the monarch tried to calm the tension, he finally left the place together with Queen Letizia and the president of the Generalitat Valenciana.
