Health Slater signed with Impact in July 2020. This came after his April 2020 WWE released due to Covid-19 roster cuts. Health then became a victim of the injury bug and that delayed him hitting the ground running. Still, Impact Wrestling wants to keep him around and he is more than willing to perform.
At Bound For Glory 2020, Slater suffered an injury and spend a year recovering from hernia surgery. He made an appearance on “Stories with Brisco & Bradshaw” podcast. Slater explained why Impact prolonged his contract whilst taking time off. Health opined that his two-year contract was prolonged because of his absence. He also added his thrilled to work indie shows, permitted by his Impact contract.
“I had two years with them, but my contract extended a year because I got hurt. I was out for a year, rehab, therapy, all that good stuff,” he said. “Now, they’ve put Humpty Dumpty back together, I’m ready to go out there and have some fun.”
“100%, I can honestly say I’m enjoying life just because I’ve missed a lot during my days and I am not knocking wrestling or WWE,” Heath continued. “I tip my hat to Vince (McMahon). Thank you for the 15, 16 years I was with you, but I missed a lot of things like birthdays, Halloweens, Christmases. I missed a lot of stuff in my day to where now, I’m not missing nothing and my heart feels full.”
Health feuded with Impact World Champion Moose which could be re-visited since they are both sticking around the company. Now Heath is in a tag team with Rhino in Kayfabe and will face Steve Maclin to avenge Rhino for last week’s loss to Maclin. We’ll have to see what’s next for Heath, but he isn’t going to let any setbacks stop him.
