Dying Light Update Unlocks Its Biggest Expansion (and More) for Free


Techland is still supporting Dying Light despite the sequel releasing earlier this year. A recent update has upgraded all existing owners to the Enhanced Edition of the game, which unlocks five pieces of the game’s DLC for free.

This patch is around 12 GB and unlocks The Following, Cuisine & Cargo, The Bozak Horde, Crash Test Skin Pack, and Ultimate Survivor Bundle. The Following is the biggest of the bunch and adds a new area to the game and focuses more on open traversal (as opposed to being in a city) and has a drivable buggy.

The other pieces of DLC are not quite as ambitious. Cuisine & Cargo adds two quarantine zones to play in and was criticized for being rather short. The Bozak Horde is a little more elaborate and has around 20 trials (with a Jigsaw-like character taunting the player) for players to beat and comes with its own set of rewards. The Crash Test Skin Pack relates to The Following and unlocks a skull-themed racing suit and a crash test paint job for the buggy. The Ultimate Survivor Bundle contains a handful of weapons and skins.

Combined, it is valued around $42 separately or $24.99 through its season pass. There’s also still plenty of DLC not included in this update, some of which is already free.

Techland also updated the first Dying Light in March to add support for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox One X, and Xbox Series X|S, showing its commitment to the 2015 title. Updates for this game are slowing down as it just got its last patch for its fantasy slasher Hellraid DLC. However, Techland also just announced the Dieselpunk Bundle that includes new weapons (like a chainsaw) and skins. The full patch notes for this latest update also adds some features like a new live event and streamlines or changes others, showing that slowing down support isn’t the same as completely stopping it.
