Daroca celebrates again its film festival with award winners such as Ana María Vidal or Karra Elejalde

The Daroca Film Festival celebrated this Saturday Gala awards ceremony and tribute of its Film Festival. at the Assembly Hall of the Casa de Cultura which was packed with attendees. Among those present were prominent figures such as the Deputy Víctor Javier Ruíz de Diegothe actress and president of the Aragonese Film Academy, Mª José Moreno, y Vicente Haro, member of ARAE and PARAM. The event was also attended by various representatives from the institutional and business spheres.

On this occasion, an award was given to one of the “Greatest Ladies” of the Theater and, also, with a long career in Film and Television, the actress Ana María Vidal. The actress received congratulations of all kinds, among them from those present. Miguel Angel Tirado (Mariano as el Corto) and Luis Pardos. And also those who were not present in the room, such as Sonsoles Benedicto and Antonio Medina, Fernando Esteso, José Carabias, Antonio Castro Jiménez, Manuel Galiana, Julio Tejela, Carlos Manuel Díaz, Luisa Martín, Mª José Alfonso, Juan Carlos Naya, Antonio Cuadri, Carlos Urrutia, Rafael Reaño, Carmen Morales and Emilio Gutiérrez Caba.

Luis Larrodera was in charge of conducting a “fun and close” tribute gala, which began with a tribute to the Film Noir genre and continued with a heartfelt remembrance of the twenty years recently completed by the first cultural program initiated in the penitentiary and origin of the Film Festival, the magazine LA Oca Loca.

THE BIG WINNERS

This year, the event hosted the most international awards ceremony in its history. More than 1000 short films from over 60 countries. competed for their awards, of which thirty-one short films from twelve countries were finalists.

In the fiction category, the official jury had a very difficult time choosing between short films by consolidated directors recognized in national and international festivals. The winner was the film “Sincopat”directed by the Spanish Pol Digglerwith more than 300 international awards and selections, which won the award.

Meanwhile, in the documentary section, the winner was Romeo by Sara G. Cortijowhich was awarded in July of this year with the “Biznaga de Plata” award for Best Documentary Short Film at the Malaga Film Festival.

The following were also awarded “The Queen of Pop” from David Goñias the best fiction from Aragon; the filmmaker Sonia Llerafor her “40 years is nothing” as the best Aragonese documentary; the director of “There are no ghosts”., Nacho Solanaas best director (ex aequo with the director of “Le mecene“Frenchman Lionel Auguste); best screenplay was won by Adrián Carande, Pepe Rico Piqué and Paula Sánchez Álvarez for “Co-Haunting”.and the film “Los domingos que quedan”, by Manolo Pavón, won the MMS Distribution award, while the best acting award went to two great national actors, Luz Valdenebro by “The remaining Sundays”. y Karra Elejalde by “Mare”.

The Youth Award, for those under 21 years of age, schools and film schools, went to the Spanish filmmaker Óscar Carrascal for his “Així sabrás on em fa mal”..

The public awarded “Luna de cal”by the Aragonese Marisa Tajada and “Mario’s book”. by the filmmaker Daniel Chamorro. The best prison short film went to “The Bulls.”by Christian Rémoli, made by inmates of the Eldorado Penitentiary Complex, in Misiones (Argentina).
