This Monday, November 11, under the slogan. “To build your utopia, visit a bookstore.”With the aim of highlighting the importance of independent bookstores in the promotion of reading and culture, this year, for the fourteenth year in a row, the Bookstore Day.
With this day, the Spanish Confederation of Booksellers’ Guilds and Associations (Cegal). wants to highlight the efforts of independent bookstores to stay alive and active by making their environments more dynamic, generating culture and community through books and reading, and promoting bibliodiversity.
Libraries all over the world Spain offer special activities to enrich the cultural life of the community and preserve the tradition of those that open their doors in the neighborhoods.
In addition, the Asociación Colegial de Escritores de España (ACE), ACE Translators and the Federation of Associations of Professional Illustrators of Spain. (Fadip) and Cegal are organizing a new edition of Vitrinas y Páginas, with books that speak of utopias and remind us that other worlds are possible as a central theme. The works adorn the shop windows of various bookstores in different parts of Spain
For Cegal, “supporting independent bookstores is essential to keep these valuable cultural spaces alive. Encouraging reading is fundamental to stimulating the imagination, cultivating critical thinking and enriching our personal lives.“.
