BBVA will donate four million euros to Red Cross Spanish Red Cross to help the affected by the DANA. This donation will be destined, initially, to respond to the most immediate needs and, subsequently, to contribute to the recovery of the thousands of people who have been affected.
The funds from BBVA’s donation will go towards to help in the rescue and care of the affected people. by the DANA, as well as in the tasks of housing recovery. These actions are carried out through the Immediate Emergency Response Teams (ERIE) that the Spanish Red Cross has in its territorial delegations, mainly in Valencia and Albacete.
Subsequently, the Spanish Red Cross will work on the relocation of people and will attend to the needs that arise after this initial phase of the emergency, such as economic and social aid to rebuild their homes, psychological support to families and attention to school-age children through educational material, extracurricular support or leisure activities to help them overcome the trauma and after-effects.
This donation is part of the urgent aid plan that BBVA launched last week for those affected by the heavy flooding. Thus, last Thursday it launched a donation campaign through Bizum, with the collaboration of the Spanish Red Cross. Those interested in contributing to this cause have to access Bizum (if they are in Spain), click on ‘Donate to a solidarity cause’, enter the code 33467 and the amount they wish to contribute. Donations can also be made by deposit or ordinary transfer to the Spanish Red Cross account: ES92 0182 2370 4600 1002 2227.
To date this campaign has raised more than three million euros. These funds will also be used for the rescue and management of temporary shelters and to help those affected to return to normality.
