The Government of Aragon has earmarked a total of 5 million euros for the financing of 55 projects of research (R+D+i) in Aragon for the period 2024-2026. The Official Gazette of Aragon (BOA) has already published the resolution of the call for grants for the development of these projects. Of these, the 78% are aimed at STEM areas that the administration considers strategic such as technological, agricultural, biomedical and experimental.
The budget allocated represents a 25% increase compared to the previous call (2021-2023). The great novelty in this edition is that it is incentive was given to those projects that were accompanied by companies or organizations such as foundations, business associations, clusters and similar entities. All this with the aim of making faster transmission to society of research results to society.
“We would not do anything if we did research, invested public resources and then there was no transfer to the business fabric. That is our objective, that it be transferred to the business fabric, therefore, to the economic growth of Aragon and, therefore, that to improve the social welfare of the people of Aragon.“said the Councilor for Employment, Science and Universities, Claudia Pérez Forniés, who underlined the importance of the “science reaches society“. In total, 89% of the projects that have obtained these grants do so together with companies.
Among the lines of research subsidized, the Ministry has placed special interest in those with particular importance for the development of the Aragonese territory, such as those related to the agri-food industry.
In addition, the councilor stressed that in the 40% of the projects awarded, the principal investigator is a woman.thus pursuing the objective of consolidating the female profile at the head of scientific research.
