Jordi Évole’s hint to Iker Jiménez after the controversy over coverage of the DANA

The disinformation and hoaxes generated around the catastrophe of the DANA in Valencia have been on the lips of many of those who starred in last Thursday’s Premios Ondas 2024. One of them was the journalist Jordi Évolewho received an award for his special program on the 20 years of the 11-M, and who has been clear and forceful when referring to these hoaxes in the networks that have also had a Iker Jiménez and his program Horizon at the center of the controversy.

“It seems to me that at a time of flooding, as is the DANA, the hardest thing to find is drinkable water. In an informative flood like this, the hardest thing to find is drinkable information”, said Évole in an interview for Mundo Deportivo.

For this reason, Évole has encouraged citizens to contrast all the information that reaches them: “To look for it, to contrast it and not to be satisfied with the first version of things or with the first whatsapp your brother-in-law sends you,” he said.

The journalist has also given his opinion on the fact that he has television programs that give voice to these hoaxes, as happened in the case of the program Horizon.

Without directly mentioning the space presented by Iker Jiménez on Cuatro, Évole has not hesitated to throw him a hint. “I think everything is going too fast and you can’t contrast enough. There are people who, in addition, the limits of contrastation are a little bit too low. and then it is the perfect breeding ground for disinformation,” he said.

During his meeting with the press at the gala prior to the Premios Ondas, Évole has also considered that journalists do not have “a highly valued profession”.in reference to the proliferation of misinformation in society and the mistrust it generates.

Regarding the march of newspapers such as La Vanguardia y The Guardian of the social network X in the face of the rise of disinformation, the journalist assured that he is going to stay “to watchlest Elon (Musk) has something in store for us. I’ll let you know later,” he joked.
