On December 22nd, one of the most awaited events of the year by millions of Spaniards returns: the Sorteo Extraordinario de la Christmas Lottery of 2024. On this occasion, 2,702 million euros will be distributed, 112 million more than in 2023. Among the prizes, the emblematic ‘Gordo’, which every year leaves 4,000,000 euros per series, stands out again. Jesús Huerta, president of Loterías y Apuestas del Estado, has highlighted that 15% of the total has already been sold.
Spaniards will spend an average of 73.84 euros on tickets to participate in the draw. However, each Asturian will be left at around 115.43 euros.115.43, the second highest figure in the country. The community that is expected to spend more per capita this year is Castilla y León, where each citizen will pay around 117.76 euros for their tickets for this Christmas lottery.
The communities that will spend the least money
Castilla y León and Asturias are not the only communities that will exceed the national average. They are followed by the communities of La Rioja (112.84 euros), Aragón (100.28 euros), Cantabria (99.4 euros)The Basque Country (84.33 euros) and the Community of Madrid (83.83 euros). On the contrary, those who are going to spend less this year in the purchase of tickets for this extraordinary draw are the inhabitants of the autonomous cities of Melilla (16.75 euros) and Ceuta (18.55 euros).
The community Madrid is expected to sell the most Christmas Lottery.with 575.08 million euros. It is closely followed by Andalusia, with 522.7 million euros. In Catalonia, 446.1 million euros are expected, while in the Valencian Community 426.3 million euros are estimated. The ones that have less tickets consigned are, again, the autonomous cities: Melilla with 1.4 million euros, and Ceuta, with 1.5 million euros.
