The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued red level warnings in some critical points, which will remain active until midnight in Malaga. This is how Mar Gómez, meteorologist of eltiempo.es explained it to this newspaper “from Thursday is when this DANA dies and an isolated cold squall is formed”.
This means that the rains will stay a few more days, possibly until Saturday, localized during this period in areas of the west and southwest peninsular. The good news about the isolated squall is that it is “more predictable than a DANA”. “This is more beneficial in the sense that it is easier to locate it or place it in some region,” Gómez specifies.
Thursday afternoon, the focus of precipitation will move to the southwest, with areas such as Huelva, Cadiz, Seville and some areas of Extremadura registering the heaviest rains of the day. During Friday, a similar situation is expected: persistent rains in the southwest, although with less intensity in isolated points in the center and south of the peninsula.
What about the weekend?
If forecasts hold, the weekend will begin a relative stability in the weather of the peninsula, although occasional showers could persist in the west, especially in Extremadura and some areas of western Andalusia. In the Mediterranean area precipitation will practically disappear.
Experts point out that this truce will allow for a gradual recovery of water levels in the affected areas. and that, at least for a few days, no new episodes of DANA or large storms are expected.
