The president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Carlos Mazónhad lunch with the journalist Maribel Vilaplana last Tuesday, October 29th, the day on which the DANA hit the Huerta Sur region of Valencia with force, in an event that has left more than 200 dead.
As published by several local and national media this Friday, Mazón had lunch with the journalist in a downtown Valencian restaurant, El Ventorro, and during the meal offered her to direct the regional television channel À Punt.
Vilaplana, a journalist with extensive experience in television, and who also is a director of the Levante UD soccer club., would have rejected Carlos Mazón’s offer during the lunch, according to the local press.
According to several media, the Valencian regional president was at the lunch until 18:00 hours and arrived at the Palau half an hour later. That same day, from 17:00 hours, a meeting of the CECOPI had been called (Integrated Operational Coordination Center).
This meeting was convened to follow up on the red alert for rainfall that had been established in Valencia. According to various media, Carlos Mazón joined this meeting after 7:00 p.m. in the afternoon, when the floods began to make an appearance in the region of the Huerta Sur Valenciana.
According to sources of the Valencian Government published by the local press, Carlos Mazón was reachable throughout the afternoon and was attending to messages and calls.
