José Pablo López was expelled from RTVE when last March he clashed with the then interim president, Elena Sánchez, over the signing of David Broncano. The conditions under which he wanted to do so, as general director of Contents.were excessive for Sánchez and a good part of the board. Now he is back, proposed by the PSOE as a counselor of RTVE and with a lot of chances to be the next president of the corporation.
Graduate in Journalism from the Universidad San Pablo CEU and in Law from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, was the former Director of General Contents of RTVE. Previously, he had directed several media such as Telemadrid and Trece and had been deputy director of La Sexta.
Among many commitments, such as those of reforming management structures, which he says are “overstretched.” and reduce their salaries, or the creation of directorates to group the internal creation or a territorial one, he spoke of the signing of David Broncano and La Revuelta.
It should be recalled that many information pointed out that this appointment was an effort of Moncloa, a desire that José Pablo López himself had championed.
“I haven’t said it for the last seven months. I was behind the hiring of David Broncano. and I proposed it without anyone telling me, not even the president of the government”, he said.
“I have criteria and autonomy in the decisions I make. We got it right [en el fichaje]because it changed the nights of La 1 and has widened the audience of this country, which is good for everyone”, he defended.
