The water reserve has therefore risen again to 51.6% of its capacity.This growth was particularly noticeable in the Jucar basin, with an increase of up to seven points.
This is confirmed by the figures published this Tuesday by the Ministry of Ecological Transition.which updates the numbers of water reservoirs week by week. According to this agency, the rains have affected “considerably” the whole Peninsula. during the last seven days and the maximum accumulated rainfall has occurred in Jerez de la Fronterain Cadizwith 183 liters per square meter.
With this, the national water reserve stores this week. a total of 28,952 cubic hectometers of wateran amount that is thus close to 52% of its total capacity. This number is also even ten percentage points above the records of 2023 in this same week, when the water reservoir was only at 41% with 23,300 cubic hectometers.
The current numbers also stand at in good shape compared to the average of recent years. Over the last decade, this week in November averages 45% with 25,000 cubic hectometers, so the reservoirs are now even six points above.
Big rise in the most deficit basins
With the passage of the DANA, the most deficit basins, located both in the south and east of the peninsula, have experienced significant increases. Similarly, the Tinto, Odiel and Piedras basins, which are now at 76.4% of their capacity, and the Guadiana basin, which is at 41.1%, have also benefited from the rains, that of the Tagus, which improves to 56.3%, or that of the Ebrowhich increases its flow to 72% of its total capacity.
On the other hand, some basins in the north of the peninsula, which are at optimum levels, have experienced a decrease. This is the case, for example, of the western Cantabrian basin, which drops up to four points and stands this week at 70.4%.the Miño-Sil falls to 63.2%; Galicia Costa does the same to 71.9% and the Duero falls one point to 63.8%. The only exceptions in the north are the basins of the Basque Countrywhich remained the same as last week at 95.2%, and that of the Eastern Cantabrian, which did manage to improve its figures from 90.4% to 91.8%.
