The Court of Instruction number 3 of Torrent has opened an investigation into the attacks against the kings, Pedro Sánchez y Carlos Mazón during his visit to Paiporta, one of the most devastated areas by the DANAon Sunday. The Civil Guard began the investigation of what happened on the same Sunday evening, and has transferred an attestation this Monday. Finally, the matter has fallen to the Court of Instruction number 3. The Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community (TSJCV) has informed through its X account of the beginning of the investigations: “[El Juzgado de] Instruction 3 of Torrent has received attestation of the Civil Guard for the incidents that occurred yesterday in the visit of the kings, the president of the Government and the president of the Generalitat, to Paiporta and has initiated preliminary proceedings to investigate the facts”.

The retinue that visited Paiporta this Sunday was greeted with shouts, insults and mud. Several citizens threw mud at Felipe VI, Queen Letizia, the president of the Valencian Community, Carlos Mazón, and the head of the Executive, Pedro Sánchez.

During the altercations, two aggressions took place. On the one hand, an escort of the Royal Household ended up bloodied after receiving a blow to the head. On the other hand, an individual threw a stick at Sánchez’s back and his escort activated a security device to evacuate the president from the place while the king and queen remained in the crowd.

Also, a group of people stoned the vehicle in which the president had arrived. and broke several windows of the car, which could fit into the crime of damage typified in article 263 of the Penal Code. This crime is punishable by up to three years in prison when it is carried out “to impede the free exercise of authority”.

The crime of attack, one of the three being investigated in the court of Torrent, would refer to the attacks directed against the president of the Government. This crime is typified in article 550 of the Penal Code, which punishes those who assault and those who “with serious intimidation or violence” resist authority. When directed against certain high-ranking institutional officials, including the President of the Government, the offense is punishable by up to six years imprisonment.
